If you’ve ever organised a party, you’ll understand how stressful it can get as the event approaches. While all the major factors are planned, there are always small things that happen unexpectedly, even to the most well prepared person. Follow these instructions on how to exhibit successfully and throw an unforgettable event.
How to exhibit successfully, before the event starts:
Think about the goals you want to achieve
Exhibitions are a great way to achieve your business goals in a social and entertaining environment. While there are always a million and one things you want to accomplish, the most important rule to remember is the tighter the goals i.e. measurable, attainable, relevant and time bound; the better chance you have of reaching them.
Prepare your stand
Once you are clear on the goals you want to achieve, you must now begin thinking about your stand: the pièce de résistance.
Start with where it will be located, what the overall design is and what activities you will want to include that will represent your business goals.
Your stand should communicate your core message in at least three seconds. To do this, use enough signage and graphics so you stand out from the sea of others trying to snap up your prospects.
The most important tip – and the one that is often forgotten – don’t overload your stand. The best way to clearly present your product is to show it off clearly without the unnecessary bells and whistles.
Advertise for your stand
Research has shown that 83% of the most successful companies at events and exhibitions are those who have taken the time to email/snail mail their prospects and customers about their upcoming events.
If you tell people what you’re doing and where, this means less thinking for them, and a clear mind path of where they should attend.
During the exhibition:
Let your staff make the best out of it
During an exhibition the most important thing at your stand is your staff. They should be well informed and highly motivated. Daily catch-ups help remind your staff of the business goals and is a great time for team motivation.
Measure your performance
Completing a post implementation review of your event will help you see what worked well at your show, and tips for an even better one next time around.
Key questions to ask:
“What activities could have been done better?“
“What could the staff improve?”
“How could we upgrade our stand?”
Similarly, if you achieved more than expected, completing a post event review will help you discover what you excelled in, and how to do it again in the future.
